Day 41 - Sunday 30th July 2017

Lisa's was up early this morning to sit with Theo..... The night nurse had been suctioning him every hour all night again.... 🙈🙈🙈

The night doctors did an x-ray on his chest through the night and his left lung was cloudy and full of mucus (like a cold). A senior sister was looking after him today, she was very good. Theo kept de-saturating every time she left the room.... I think he was playing games with her 😂😂 Theo was pretty restless during the afternoon. He was lay on his right side to give his left lung room to drain out the secretions, but he really didn't want to be on his right and was trying to turn himself over..... I changed his nappy mid morning and put him on his belly (on top of one of his Zaky Hands so he was off his left lung). He settled down pretty quickly after a few adjustments and spent the rest of the afternoon pretty chilled 😁 After some bagering from me and support from The nurse, I managed to get Lisa out for something to eat late afternoon..... as usual, we were in and out in 40 mins. Lisa looked really tired afterwards so I told her to go to bed for a couple of hours while I stayed with Theo for the evening. Lisa came back over at around 7pm and stayed with Theo while I went back to our room to finish setting up emails and server access etc for a couple of new starters due to start at work tomorrow. I then went back over about 9pm and read Theo a few stories. Lisa and I started to do Theo's cares at about 11pm and the Consultant who saved Theo when he was first born came over to talk to us about Theo having postnatal Steroids to help get him off the ventilator..... we both really respect this consultants word because he saved our sons life, but side effects of postnatal steriods include cerebral palsy and Neuro developmental delay, so Lisa and I have got some thinking to do over the next couple of days and a really big decision to make! We will wait and see what the secreations sample results are like in the next 48 hours though before making any decisions. Theo is still doing well but has gone backwards a little bit today with his ventilation pressure and rate... hopefully it just down to a bit of a chest infection and not his chronic lung disease getting worse! I really hope he doesn't need the steroids! We had another phone call with Jack tonight. He's having a great time in La Manga with his friends.... he sounds like he's getting homesick though 🙁 Thanks for reading, please share this blog with everyone you know to extend it's reach....
