Day 33 - Saturday 22nd July 2017

I was back over with Theo for 5:30 this morning to do his cares..... the night nurse said that he had had a good night's sleep and that they had stopped his morphine throughout the night.

On the morning hand over, we had the guy from Monday 10th July again, and a newly qualified nurse. While I was sat with Theo it looked like he was in frequent pain so I told the nurse and he said he would keep an eye on his pain score throughout the day. At about 9am, just before the ward round I did his nappy and turned him over on to his right hand side, he seemed to be more settled straight away with no signs of pain, so I just told the doctors on the ward round about it and the said they would also monitor it. The doctors didn't really change anything today..... we just needed to continue feeding him and trying to wean him off the ventilator...... Lisa and I are happy they are going to try and wean him off the ventilator again as it is really starting to cause him some discomfort. It is still filling up with condensation and water is running down his tube causing him to Brady and de-saturate quite often. I asked the nurse if he thought there could be a problem with the machine but the he said that it's to do with the air con system above his bed.... nightmare! I went back to RMH after the ward round and packed Jack's bags for his jollies. Lisa was pretty emotional saying goodbye to him.... Jack was manning it up until he came over to say goodbye to Theo..... then he started crying a bit because Theo woke up and reached his arms out to Jack 😢😢 ❤❤ I took Jack to the barbers to try and get his hair cut before he goes but the queue was massive, so we just went to Tesco to get some snacks, puzzle books and reading books for the flight. I also got some krispy kreme doughnuts for the nurses again. We then met my friend at our house just after 1pm and Jack was soon on his way...... I was really emotional.... I'm going to miss my big man ❤❤ but I know he's going to have a great time in Marbs and will be well looked after by our friends 😁 When I got back to the hospital Lisa and I sat with Theo for a bit then went for some dinner. My neice came up at about 3:30pm to see us all and I had a nice catch up with her. Theo has been doing really well today. He has gone up to 3ml on his milk, his ventilator is down to 20bpm again and his pressure is down to 21..... we need to get them both down to 15 then he will be able to come off the ventilator...... talk about coming back stronger!! 😃😃 We had the same night nurse as yesterday on tonight so we stayed with him until about 11:30pm then went back to RMH to catch up on some much needed sleep.....
